Believe = Follow

On John 14:6 Jesus said that He is the only way to the Father and that no one goes to the Father except through Him. And on John 5:24 He said that whoever believes in Him will be saved and have eternal life. But what does Jesus mean when He says believe in Him? Well, what do we do when we believe in something? Let’s say we believe in a really good product. So, we buy it. We use it. And we tell people about it. How about when we believe in an idol or a mentor? We trust and follow their words. And we follow their examples. And that’s exactly what it means believing in Jesus. We accept Him and we acknowledge His finished and perfect work. We receive His grace. We receive the healing, restoration, deliverance, and everything that He offers to us. And we share our testimony to all the people we know. And furthermore, we take note of everything that He taught us and follow them. And also copy the examples that He has shown us.

Perhaps when Jesus said that the only way to the Father is through Him, He meant through his footsteps, through his character, through his life. And perhaps the best way to believe in Him is to acknowledge what He has done and follow His examples.

Our ultimate goal is to become more like Christ. But how do we become more like Him if we don’t fully know Him? So, let’s get to know Him better on our next topics.
